The greater of your parcel's actual weight and its volumetric (size-based) weight. Big but light boxes are priced on volume — so compact packing saves money.
Destination
Countries sit in pricing zones by distance and route. The Gulf is typically the most economical lane; the USA, Canada and Australia cost more as long-haul destinations.
Service type
Priority air express costs more than economy air, and air costs more than sea cargo. We match the service to your deadline and budget.
Why a big, light box can cost more.
Carriers price on space as well as mass. Understanding this one rule is the easiest way to keep your bill down.
A parcel takes up room on an aircraft whether it is full of feathers or books. To account for this, carriers calculate a volumetric weight from the parcel's dimensions and compare it with the actual weight. You are charged on whichever is greater — the chargeable weight.
A widely used air formula is length × width × height (in centimetres) divided by 5000. So a 40 × 30 × 30 cm box works out to 36,000 ÷ 5000 = 7.2 kg of volumetric weight. If the box actually weighs 5 kg, it is still charged as 7.2 kg. Pack snugly, avoid oversized boxes, and you pay for what you send — not for air.

The chargeable weight is the greater of the actual weight and the volumetric (dimensional) weight, so a large but light box may be priced on its size.
What is volumetric weight?
Volumetric weight reflects how much space a parcel takes up rather than how heavy it is. A common air formula is length × width × height in centimetres, divided by 5000. If that figure is higher than the actual weight, the shipment is charged on the volumetric weight. Packing compactly keeps your cost down.
Do you charge per kg?
Per-kg rates are a useful way to compare, but the final cost also depends on the destination zone, fuel and handling surcharges, and any customs requirements. For an accurate figure, share the weight, dimensions and destination and we will quote the real chargeable cost — not a teaser rate.
Are customs duties and taxes included in the courier charge?
No. Any import duty or tax charged by the destination country is separate from the courier charge and is set by that country's customs, based on the value and type of goods. We declare your shipment accurately and explain what to expect.
Is pickup included in the price?
Pickup across Chennai is free — it is not added to your charge. We collect from your home or office at no cost and handle the shipment door to door.
